| Meme: 10 stories that should probably never happen. |
[Nov. 21st, 2009|11:07 pm] |
THIS HERE IS A SPECIAL MEME. Ripped from longsufferingly. YOU SHOULD DO IT it's deeply enjoyable in a wtf sort of way.
1. Write down the names of 10 characters. 2. Write a fic of fifteen words or less for every prompt, using the characters determined by the numbers. Do NOT read the prompts before you do step 1.
Genjo Sanzo Nicholas D. Wolfwood Kanda Yuu Takatori Mamoru Schuldig Vegeta Revy Gwendal von Walde Peter Bishop Charles Gunn
( With a cast like that, what could possibly go wrong! ) |

| Supernatural question! |

What does Chuck (the prophet/writer) drive? It's a truck, isn't it? I have the episode but can't get to it at the moment. |

I am poking around at Archive of Our Own! It is quite fun. I am attempting to not fart around and avoid writing by doing this. I am not having quite as much luck with that.
A few questions:
Is anyone but me having trouble setting a rating when they're uploading existing work? If it's just me I don't want to bug them.
How are people handling multipart works that aren't necessarily in sequence? Just thinking of figuring out hot to link up the Ran-verse is making me cringe. |

| HOSHIT |
[Nov. 14th, 2009|07:12 pm] |
I said I could write that, didn't I? HAHAHAHAH HOSHIT.
I'll be fine. I do this every Yuletide.
Having said that, HOSHIT.
Also, I just added D. Gray-man to Archive of Our Own. I feel STRONG and POWERFUL. |

| Dear yuletide writer... |
[Nov. 13th, 2009|10:08 pm] |
First, THANK YOU! You are clearly an awesome person for wanting to write for my fandoms, because they too are AWESOME.
Pretty much, you can just listen to what I put on the request. I love gen, I love het, I love slash, I love mixing all of those together; I love humor and capers and snappy dialogue and serious takes, too. If you want to know what I like, my recs are in my memories; if you want to know what I read, it's conveniently located at my Dreamwidth account.
But if you want to know more about my fandoms and why I love them, the details are behind the cut

| Meme time! |

Wow, there's some serious ablism in The Postman Always Rings Twice. Suits the characters, though.
ANYWAY have a meme.
Leave me a comment saying "Resistance is Futile." • I'll respond by asking you four questions so I can satisfy my curiosity • Update your journal with the answers to the questions. • Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions
From micaturtle:
1. Raphael the Manwhore? What does THAT mean? ... *blinka* 2. If you could date ANY fictional character, who would it be and why? 3. Last I heard, you had reproduced! How is your child(s)? (Or am I completely batshit in my memory/recall) 4. Are you planning on coming to Comic Con in 2010? Also, do you ever attend any other conventions?
( The answers )
This movie is pretty damn good. Lana Turner was pretty hot back in the day. |

| I kind of love this show. |

On last week's White Collar: the father from Little Mosque on the Prairie as an infamous Israeli forger!
Also, Kelly Kapowski. And I'm really enjoying her. |

Happy Halloween, and good luck to everyone on my flist doing Nano!
Via meganbmoore, awesome photos of kick-ass women serving their countries during World War II (Ally-centric but international).
Also, I watched the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band movie. It is every bit as bad as everyone has told you it is. Except for the Earth, Wind and Fire version of "Got to get you into my life" and Aerosmith covering "Come Together". Check it out. And then don't watch the movie. If you do watch the movie, do what I did and fast forward every time things get terrible; it's mostly pantomine so you can just follow the, er, plot along without the sound. (Believe me, for most of this movie, 'without the sound' is a very, very good idea.)
And last but not least, I keep forgetting to note that I wrote three drabbles for remixthedrabble, all 100 words each:
Prodigy (The Unexpected Consequences Remix), Buffy-verse
Shameless (The No Trouble in Paradise Remix), Saiyuki Gaiden
And then I decided that Shameless was too optimistic a take on the characters' situation so I wrote a counter-drabble (yes, I am this neurotic):
Discretion (The Trouble in Paradise Remix) |

Oh, XKCD, never change.
Thanks to their timely reminder, I've harvested all I wanted to keep from my old GeoCrappies page. I do have a host, but I haven't been arsed to get things organized there yet, and better backed up than sorry. I keep toying with some fic with some of my old OCs; this guy is definitely coming over to the other side.
If you're curious about my old TMNT OCs, or you've known me that long and want soak up a little nostalgia, here's a little backstory fic with him I had up on the page. Bye, Geocities. It was fun while it lasted.

You should basically just plow through remixthedrabble and look for goodies. The anime fics are here.
Written for me was the gloriously wicked Flimsy Excuses, Shigure/Hatori, and the dark and thoughtful Otherside, Crawford/Shuldig. Thank you, phantom writer!
I am still chewing over the $60 million dollar sale of the TMNT to Nickelodeon. I hope all ends well for everyone involved, especially the writers and artists I've been privileged to meet over the years. It's a good group of people. The one thing I can say with absolute certainty is that it's not remotely like "Conan Doyle selling his rights to 'Sherlock Holmes' to Stephenie Meyer." If you want to know more, Peter Laird talks about it at his blog here. He sounds so tired.
I had something else...guess I'll just have to spam more later. |

| GODDAMNIT CLAMP |
[Oct. 17th, 2009|09:18 pm] |
xxxHolic is making me cry. Dammit.
Should I check out the manga? I have enjoyed the anime so far, but am suspicious of CLAMP's tendency toward chaos.
Also, LJ was a jerk and wouldn't let me list off 100 female characters I absolutely freakin' love, so it's over on DW. |

Thus, I bring something happy-making via telophase:
How books changed one young man's life, and how some amazing people made the change happen.
Share your happy things. News! Pictures of kittens! Stupid jokes! IS YOUR KITTEN CUTER THAN MY ICON KITTEN (Icon kitten on LJ only, limited time offer). |

| Yuletide and pimping~ |
[Sep. 21st, 2009|09:52 pm] |
If you have a Threadless account, or even if you don't, check out this shirt!
Also, people are talking about the fandoms they are planning on nominating for Yuletide. Here are my current thoughts:
Little Mosque on the Prarie. It's a CBC show about a Muslim family and their adventures in rural Canada. It passes the Bechdel Test and the 'people of color' collolary in pretty much every episode. It's funny, sweet, and can talks about race and culture and Big Issues in interesting ways. Also, it's funny.
RH Plus. Hot Japanese vampires fight crime! Here, watch it on YouTube.
Chintsubu. Cute Japanese boys switch penises in tragic accident. Also hilarious. I linked to this when I did the icon meme.
Twin Peaks. I'm just rewatching this show and remembering all the reasons I love it. Creepy atmosphere! Bad mojo! Agent Cooper! Audrey. Totally Netflixable!
Pushing Daisies. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU, PUSHING DAISIES. If you don't know what this one is I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY TO YOU. (In fact, I do have things to say to you. Lots and lots of things, starting with GO WATCH IT NOW.)
Asterix the Gaul. As far as I can tell, this has never been nominated! This, as they say, is a crime. It is probably the best thing to ever come from France, including Voltaire and Catherine Deneuve. |
